iRecord St Helena celebrates 2 years of wildlife recording!
On the 28th of February 2023, we officially launched iRecord St Helena, marking the beginning of a centralised digital platform for recording St Helena’s biodiversity. Over the past two years, we’ve seen great contributions from researchers, conservationists, and citizen scientists, helping to build a valuable wildlife dataset for the island.
However, this is just the beginning of our journey. The past two years have been about embedding iRecord St Helena into the community and developing it into a tool that truly supports those recording biodiversity on the island. We’ve been working to expand species lists, process and validate datasets, develop policies, strengthen partnerships, and introduce specialised recording forms to support conservation professionals. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to see how iRecord St Helena can further empower data-driven conservation and engage even more people in recording and protecting St Helena’s unique wildlife.
To celebrate two years of wildlife recording, we’ve been busy with iRecord St Helena-focused activities and community engagement. Check out some of the posters we displayed in Jamestown, highlighting the impact of biological recording and how everyone can get involved!
